Teaching
In order to teach in the UK, you need to obtain a qualified teacher status (QTS). This involves passing the skills tests in numeracy, literacy and information and communications technology (ICT). These tests can be taken in any of the 40 test centres across the UK. To find out more on the format of these tests, practice the tests and read support materials, visit the TTA website .
To teach in a maintained or special school, teachers must have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). When choosing trainees, initial teacher training (ITT) providers are required to assess candidates' suitability for teaching. This includes ensuring that all candidates admitted for training have taken part in a group or individual interview. You will also have to explain and show your qualifications and relevant experience.
Special Education Needs
This organisation offers free independent advice on Special Education Needs (SEN). They also offer free advice on appealing to the Special Educational Needs Tribunal, including representation when needed. IPSEA is there to help you, if you feel your child's needs are not being met.
